110 newly crafted wool hats were delivered to Krishna Primary School students this week.

On September 22, the Neighbours of the Village of Khandbari received a short update via the NABUUR website from their Local Representative Tejanath Pokharel ''No electricity in Khandbari''.

Yoshinkel is known for its indigenous culture and art, yet only 5% of the local women can read or write. To generate income while they stay home with their children, the women of the village hand-knit colorful woolen caps, socks, gloves, slippers, sweaters and mufflers.

The increasing population in Khandbari has driven enrolment at Himalaya Higher Secondary School to more than 1,500 students. Most families cannot afford textbooks, so the community has been working to expand its small library. Neighbour Sabina from Nepal helped coordinate the donation of textbooks from Room to Read. A strategic plan was prepared with the help of Neighbours. A local benefactor donated Rs1,100,000 for the school library building construction.

110 brand new wool caps are currently en route to Krishna Primary School.
