Dromankese and Moringa Trees planting

In Dromankese today, the community has taken to planting trees. One of the trees is Moringa Oleifera. Trees and traditional leafy vegetables have a crucial role in almost all terrestrial ecosystems and provide a range of products and services to rural and urban people. As natural vegetation is cleared for agriculture and other types of development, the benefits that trees provide are best sustained by integrating trees into agriculturally productive landscapes.
Studies have shown that Moringa leaves could be used as a vegetable, animal fodder and for medicinal purposes. ( Curing of HIV/AIDS )
Therefore, Dromankese Town Development Association is embarking on a ten acres of land to grow Moringa Trees for commercial use and at the long run, it contributes to the eradication of poverty.
Moringa Trees are said to be essential for soil health and food security; fruit trees for nutrition; fodder trees that improve smallholder livestock production.

Proven impacts of Moringa Trees:
• Reducing poverty through increased production of Moringa
• Contributing to food security by restoring farm soil fertility for food crops.
• Reducing deforestation
• Increasing diversity of on-farm tree crops and tree cover to buffer farmers against the effects of global climate change.
• Improving nutrition to lessen the impacts of hunger and chronic illness associated with HIV/AIDS.
