Research child development programmes

Step:
1

To ensure a good future for the children of Vadgam, we need to organise child development activities for children of various age groups in Vadgam - primary (under 13 years), secondary (13-16 years), higher secondary (14-17 years) and the youth in college (17-20 years). We also need to include children not attending school, or drop-outs.

Similar child development programmes have been run by various institutes and NGOs. Also, our neighbours can help with providing material and online training. We should also be able to identify people in Vadgam or nearby villages who can help with any child development activities.

Hi Nitin
Yes you should try to get volunteers atleast from out side village.
Is this class once a week?
make the time table add more activities like spelling 5 or 10 words.
you could use the children for this kind of activity.

Hi Nitin
I think until you find volunteers to assist you, you should create
1 leader as your back-up and 4 groups with 6 students. each group appoint
1 team leader. and twice a month rotate them. This will help each student to
get leadership experience and improve self confidence.
It's always better to add more activities like dancing/singing/dramas etc.
I'm sure parents could assist you with above activities.
We could post/submit that we would like to have volunteers from other countries.
but you have to let them know the facilities in Vadagam.

Hi Indira,

Wow! what a wonderful idea.ok will creat a leader of each group to develop leadership experence and improve self confidence among the children's which will help me also to find time to manage class room also.pl.forget parents formula to assist class room because they haven't a knowledge or understanding to such activities so its better to findout like minded people to better work on project.

ok,will add more activities in class room suggested by you it will be to more interesting to encouraging childrens and free from tensons.

Thanking you,

Dear Nitin,

Have you considered the Azim Premji Foundation's CBT materials?
They are good and effective and most importantly available in many Indian regional languages other than English and Hindi.

Here is a list of subjects they cover-
http://www.azimpremjifoundation.org/html/E_Learn_Mat_table1.htm

Hello Everybody,
The Psychologists, the Scintists among you, can you please put together some simple activities/experiements together which can create an interest for education(particularly science) in young minds. Its got to be simple enough so that even an illiterate child of the age of 10-12 can take part. I have seen children preferring their hardworking childlabour lifestyle to schoolgoing life where they were provided with a very comfortable and free life. The education system in most schools is monotonous, boring and stressful. So given a choice, no children in India would like to go to school. Keeping children genuinely interested in education is a big challenge. I think if we can put together a sheet of interesting educational activities at least one per week, that will go a long way in attracting and retaining children in education.

Banaj

Hi everybody!

We, Renske, Anne-Wil and Eva are three dutch students of 17 and 18 years old. (Picture at our school, see below) We need to write a final people for our secondary school and have chosen a worldschool assignment. we have chosen the Vadgam assignment because we believe we have something to offer for Vadgam education. We look forward to start working. This however is only possible when we know what is there already. There have been so many posts in this subject that we are quite lost. So how far are you in the development of a school in Vadgam exactly? Because I have read at the forum that already many things have been accomplished. We nee to know where we are now, then only we can start working and thinking. Actually, most importantly, what do we have to do?

Unfortunately, we have only limited time: in 2,5 months we have to hand in our final paper! So I'm afraid we are not able to set up an entire school.. We can for example think up a curriculum, with a budget as low as possible. But to work on this we have to know how far all of you got already, this is very important. It's inefficient to do things twice and we want to make the most of it!

Eva

Dear Indira and Nitin,

Thank you both for your comments, this will be helping us a lot. We will mostly look at the theoretical side of the subject however, since we have the most knowledge to offer about that. We will try to give you an excellent curriculum for th chilren of Vadgam.

Also, we will try to visit Vadgam, but firstly we will have to look for sponsors. Our main goal, as stated avove, is to develop the best curriculum possible for the children. We only have short time however, since we have to hand in our paper (on Vadgam education) in February. But we will make the best of it!

Eva (Anne-Wil, Renske)
