Support Secured for School for the Deaf

A small school for the deaf in the Sankhuwasabha district has received much needed support.

During Andrew Blake's recent visit to Nepal, he and our local representative Tejanath Pokharel, walked about an hour outside of Khandbari to a small school in the district of Sankhuwasabha that was started to meet the needs of students who are deaf. The school required much during this visit. When Andrew returned home, Tejanath did not forget about the school. He donated his time to help the school management committee submit several proposals, two of which were successful. As a result of Tejanath working with the school to submit these proposals, the school now has a computer, color TV for the students (who also reside at the school),and another organization has provided 400,000 rupees (around $5,000 USD) to help manage/improve the physical facilities as well.
