On 3-11-08(Monday),the corrected answer scripts of the half yearly examination will be distributed to the students.They will get it signed by their guardians.
After that,the signed answer scripts will be taken back by the school teachers.
This will take a couple of days,as some children sometimes forget,or the guardians are not available at home etc.

This does not really fit under one of the main tasks, so am posting it here...
One thing I notice when reading through the tasks is that you are very much focused on finding outside sources of support - funding, equipment, books etc.
A few questions:
As well as looking for national/international support, have you also looked locally within Kalna e.g. local companies, religious organisations, community groups etc? Are there other schools in the town who could assist you e.g. by passing on used books to you or possibly allowing your children to join some of their classes?
While you may need some ongoing support, at least for a while, have you considered the possibilities of looking at ways to make the school fully or partly self-sufficient? Do you want to continue to rely on outsiders, or to look at ways to become more indpendent?
Who is involved in making decisions about how the school is run? I know that from a teaching point of view it is you and an assistant teacher, and that other members of your family also assist in various ways, But are there others e.g. the parents/guardians of the children?

The books of the local schools are in local language(Bengali).So none of their books are suitable for my school.
From 2005 till now,i have funded my own project and have not asked any financial help from any local people or got any national or international help in fund or any other thing.At present,with some charities, the processing is going on!
I had good schooling-English medium school(Christian missionery),and had also been an assistant teacher of an English medium High(class-12)school, for several years,so i am well acquainted with good schooling and teaching skills too.
But as this school is mainly dealing with downtroddens,so some special techniques/things have to be kept in mind in dealing with them.My family members and also some more school board members are there to take decisions.Of course!!! guardians opinions are also given a great!!! importance.
A small example- I could not make strict!!! rule regarding bringing of medical certificate of downtrodden students who remain absent for long time.I had made this,with concent of other school board members,but later had to cancel it! as i came to know a very sad!story of 2(sisters)downtroddens(who remain frequently absent due to sickness).When they remain sick,their parents,just give half dollar(US) or so to the doctor's assistant & gets the "free sample"(which medical representatives gift to doctors)of nearly more than what they have paid.The medicines they get are of 2 or 3 dollars(US) etc.They cannot afford to get medical certificate,or even the prescription of the registered doctor.So this is their life!!!
So you can very well understand how much i have to keep in mind,the economic conditions! of the downtroddens in running the school.
In India "only" the "rich" go to "English medium" schools.I am "doing" "with downtroddens",to give them education in my English medium school.
Don't worry! my dear,i also do not like "depending too much"on others.My project in Nabuur was approved in August 2006,& it came online in October 2008,more than 2 years.But i had been very "active" neighbour throughout these 2 years.
So as long as the school needs assistance,i am always there to support it financially or in other ways.
And the rest is all your's(neighbours) assistance!!!

Mary,i think you should take good care of your health along with your great! devoted work.I remember telling you also-"take your own time!".You can post later also,but not remaining awake late night! which may hamper your health!From beginning,I always requested Baginda to not be overburdened! with the facilitator task.I want my neighbours to remain happy and peaceful!!!.

I see from your post yesterday that you have applied to local organisations too. Are you having any success with this?
To me, its not just about applying to groups in the town and saying 'please can you give us some money or books' but also about finding ways to form partnerships, work together, share contacts and ideas etc.
For example, you have mentioned that the school has prayers before the start of class. I don't know what religion you belong to (and it does not matter to me at all), but if you can link up with local religious organisations you may find that they have partnerships with those in other countries. So through that you may be able to form links of your own.
Also, can you get publicity in local media - TV, radio, newspapers etc?
The other questions I was asking were about how you intend to support the school over the longer term, and whether any of the children's families are actively involved with the school.
At the moment, your tasks on Nabuur are very focused on finding outside support. Do you hope to rely on donors for a long time? Or do you hope to find ways that the school can earn some money for itself, becoming partly or fully self-sufficient?
For example, would it be possible for the school to start a small business, with some of the money going to those who work there (maybe some of the parents if they don't have jobs), and some going to the school to buy essential items?
This has several benefits - firstly you are not so dependent on outsiders who could decide to stop sending support at any time, for a whole range of reasons. Secondly, it enables other members of the local community to earn money and themselves become more independent.
I am also not clear on what your long-term plans are when it comes to developing the school. You say that you want to run more classes for other age-groups, but from your description this is not practical while the school is in your house as you do not have the space.
Have you sat down as a group and discussed the future, how the school will be run, and whether it will expand, and come up with any plans?

Dear Facilitator and Neighbours
On 3-11-08(Monday),the corrected answer scripts of the half yearly examination will be distributed to the students.They will get it signed by their guardians.
After that,the signed answer scripts will be taken back by the school teachers.
This will take a couple of days,as some children sometimes forget,or the guardians are not available at home etc.

This does not really fit under one of the main tasks, so am posting it here...
One thing I notice when reading through the tasks is that you are very much focused on finding outside sources of support - funding, equipment, books etc.
A few questions:
As well as looking for national/international support, have you also looked locally within Kalna e.g. local companies, religious organisations, community groups etc? Are there other schools in the town who could assist you e.g. by passing on used books to you or possibly allowing your children to join some of their classes?
While you may need some ongoing support, at least for a while, have you considered the possibilities of looking at ways to make the school fully or partly self-sufficient? Do you want to continue to rely on outsiders, or to look at ways to become more indpendent?
Who is involved in making decisions about how the school is run? I know that from a teaching point of view it is you and an assistant teacher, and that other members of your family also assist in various ways, But are there others e.g. the parents/guardians of the children?

The books of the local schools are in local language(Bengali).So none of their books are suitable for my school.
From 2005 till now,i have funded my own project and have not asked any financial help from any local people or got any national or international help in fund or any other thing.At present,with some charities, the processing is going on!
I had good schooling-English medium school(Christian missionery),and had also been an assistant teacher of an English medium High(class-12)school, for several years,so i am well acquainted with good schooling and teaching skills too.
But as this school is mainly dealing with downtroddens,so some special techniques/things have to be kept in mind in dealing with them.My family members and also some more school board members are there to take decisions.Of course!!! guardians opinions are also given a great!!! importance.
A small example- I could not make strict!!! rule regarding bringing of medical certificate of downtrodden students who remain absent for long time.I had made this,with concent of other school board members,but later had to cancel it! as i came to know a very sad!story of 2(sisters)downtroddens(who remain frequently absent due to sickness).When they remain sick,their parents,just give half dollar(US) or so to the doctor's assistant & gets the "free sample"(which medical representatives gift to doctors)of nearly more than what they have paid.The medicines they get are of 2 or 3 dollars(US) etc.They cannot afford to get medical certificate,or even the prescription of the registered doctor.So this is their life!!!
So you can very well understand how much i have to keep in mind,the economic conditions! of the downtroddens in running the school.
In India "only" the "rich" go to "English medium" schools.I am "doing" "with downtroddens",to give them education in my English medium school.
Don't worry! my dear,i also do not like "depending too much"on others.My project in Nabuur was approved in August 2006,& it came online in October 2008,more than 2 years.But i had been very "active" neighbour throughout these 2 years.
So as long as the school needs assistance,i am always there to support it financially or in other ways.
And the rest is all your's(neighbours) assistance!!!

I guess what Mary meant was if you ever thought of looking for any sorts of assistance from organisations or any commercial institutions in Kalna itself, as that might be one of the possibilities, besides searching for organisations at a national or International level.

Yea,i have applied to local charities too.
Actually my project got approved!!! by "United Nations" volunteers on 18 July 2008(Friday).I had been eagerly waiting with great patience! for their approval.As that had added importance! to my project.
So everywhere i have applied after that.At all places the processing! is going on.Let's have patience!
Mary,i think you should take good care of your health along with your great! devoted work.I remember telling you also-"take your own time!".You can post later also,but not remaining awake late night! which may hamper your health!From beginning,I always requested Baginda to not be overburdened! with the facilitator task.I want my neighbours to remain happy and peaceful!!!.
As my hobby is maxim/proverb collecting,so there is a good saying-"Slow but steady wins the race"

As soon as the transfer of the donation takes place, i will post the happy news!!! for you all.
He has expressed his desire to send the donation by moneygram.But as i do not know about moneygram ,so i have requsted him to teach me about it's details!!!
I have also let him know about the school account details,which i opened on 20 October-2008(Monday)-in the State Bank of India of our locality.
It's his choice!!! which means he chooses.

I said I would explain a little more about the questions I asked on Thursday night and why I was asking them....
I see from your post yesterday that you have applied to local organisations too. Are you having any success with this?
To me, its not just about applying to groups in the town and saying 'please can you give us some money or books' but also about finding ways to form partnerships, work together, share contacts and ideas etc.
For example, you have mentioned that the school has prayers before the start of class. I don't know what religion you belong to (and it does not matter to me at all), but if you can link up with local religious organisations you may find that they have partnerships with those in other countries. So through that you may be able to form links of your own.
Also, can you get publicity in local media - TV, radio, newspapers etc?
The other questions I was asking were about how you intend to support the school over the longer term, and whether any of the children's families are actively involved with the school.
At the moment, your tasks on Nabuur are very focused on finding outside support. Do you hope to rely on donors for a long time? Or do you hope to find ways that the school can earn some money for itself, becoming partly or fully self-sufficient?
For example, would it be possible for the school to start a small business, with some of the money going to those who work there (maybe some of the parents if they don't have jobs), and some going to the school to buy essential items?
This has several benefits - firstly you are not so dependent on outsiders who could decide to stop sending support at any time, for a whole range of reasons. Secondly, it enables other members of the local community to earn money and themselves become more independent.
I am also not clear on what your long-term plans are when it comes to developing the school. You say that you want to run more classes for other age-groups, but from your description this is not practical while the school is in your house as you do not have the space.
Have you sat down as a group and discussed the future, how the school will be run, and whether it will expand, and come up with any plans?

I have mailed to you some DVDs. After they arrive, let me know what ones I sent and I may have some more that the school could use. They will play only on a computer. I have a few that will play on a dvd player.
