Occupation: Responsibility of my scho
Biography: My story and contribution Request for a Tibetan English School
My name is Tashi Yang Zoom. I was born in Neymo in 1981.
I am 27 years old. My parents’ have 12 children, but now they have only eight children.
I am the youngest in my family. I have four older brothers and three older sisters.
I studied Tibetan in elementary school from 1987 to 1992. Then I worked as a farmer with my parents and a shepherdess in Neymo from 1993 to 1999.
In 2000 I came to Lhasa to find work at a Tibetan restaurant.
I worked at this restaurant for one year, and I saved 3000 rmb. So I decided to study English.
Then I went to English school for eight months and studied English on my own.
Afterwards I began to work at the Pentoc guesthouse in 2001 and continued until the closure of Pentoc in October of 2005. I married in 2003, and my husband’s name is Norbu, We have a son. In 2004 I studied English again at the Tibetan Academy of Social Science’s English training school. I am presently still studying English there. From May 2006 to November1 2007 I worked at an NGO.
Then I left from there, November 6th I opened an English school out side of Lhasa in a village called Tesdang. From Lhasa to Tesdang it takes half two hours by bus. I would like to teach English as much as I can and concentrate on poor Tibetan children who don’t have enough to pay for school.
I would like to teach poor Tibetan children, because I also didn’t have a chance to study English when I was a young. I studied again when I was 21 years old, but I didn’t have enough money to pay for school at that time.
So I decided teach English to them, I would like to help poorer Tibetan children to learn English. I believe this is very important work.
So I planed to open an English school in my life. Because inside of city poor Tibetan people have good opportunity to lean any language& convenient to go English school, and they find the good job, but of countryside poorer Tibetan people never get good opportunity to lean any language, also especially they never get opportunity to lean English, and they don’t have convenient to go English school. Therefore I must give to them convenient to lean English.
I hope if they are speaking good English to find a good job.
So now we need an English teacher from foreign. I am looking for an English teacher from western everywhere.
Now in this school have twelve students, their have interesting to learn English as much as me, and right now their English knowledge is very poor.
I am sure this school will be bigger after one month.
Therefore please who will be come here to help me for teach English.
If person who will come here, I have two works, one things is teach English for them, and one thing is to improve this school.
I am sure, my English is very bad, please forgive me mistake this letter.
Thank you very much. For your time and consideration, I hope we can be partners in teaching this English school and helping many Tibetans further their opportunities.
Sincerely
Tashi Yang Zoom.
