Help build a secondary school for Matopeni children!

The building of the primary school in Matopeni slum is already in phase two, it will be completed during the first half of 2009. There are already several children in the higher classes (class 7 and class 8) of the primary school who urgently need possibilities for further education and vocational training. These are children from very poor families or they are orphans. To get an education and a profession is the key for a better life and for a brighter future for the children.

Notre Dame High School has a library and a librarian. The library contains some chairs and a few books that have been received through generous donations. At the present time, students have to share textbooks because there are not enough books for each student. The library could also use general reading and reference materials.

Here is a list of several other resources we collected in the Khandbari village in association with getting books for the school library. Again, with most of these, transportation costs will likely be the most prohibitive factor. I still believe 100% that you will find the most success if you focus primarily on the organizations working inside Nepal already, including publishing and book distribution houses.
